Defining Health Promotion Charity

During this time of the pandemic, charities are of big help in assisting the needs of the people. Mostly, you can see charities acting upon schools to support the education of the students who are disconnected from their traditional learning system. So, to continue their endeavor for knowledge, charities open a way for these students to accessing educational information.

Another type of charity that offers help to those in need is the health promotion charity or the HPC. The main goal of HPC is the promotion of ways to controlling the transmission of diseases to humans. To become an HPC, the charity must register to the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.

The following are the requirements to be a registered charity under the HPC:

  • the entity must be a not-for-profit group
  • it should be an institution and not as a group or government party
  • holds charitable purposes for the benefit of the public
  • has the ability to promote ways in controlling human diseases

Groups that must be included as HPC are the following:

  1. health care providers in the community
  2. medical research team
  3. organizations that promote public awareness of preventable diseases

Involvement of the promotion

Below are the responsibilities included in the Health Promotion Charities:

  • methods in reducing the transmission of diseases
  • public awareness activities
  • medical research
  • treatment and management of diseases
  • development or giving off equipment or aids to people with the disease
